
Our gastronomy

The medieval cuisine, Islamic as much as Catalan, and the French inspiration are those which have had a greater influence on the recipes of Ciutadella and the rest of the municipalities in Minorca. These recipes have given the island worldwide fame.
Ciutadella's gastronomy comes from the contributions made by different towns and cultures that have created over centuries a cuisine full of surprises and contrasts just like the landscape of Ciutadella. This municipality of Minorca has known how to wisely adapt many elements from other countries into their own local culinary.
This diversity is expressed through many fish, seafood and meat dishes.
Diverse elaborations such as cuscussó, an Arabic Christmas dessert; pudding of British origin; the intelligent combination of sweet and savoury with sobrasada and soft cheese with rosemary honey, or l'oliaigua with figs, an emblem of the popular gastronomy.
